he United States government has called for scaled up investment in long term food system resilience to adequately deal with growing hunger.

US Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen notes with concern that food insecurity is exacting a heavy toll on communities around the world, including in Zambia.

She has however mentioned that Africa has the potential not only to feed itself but to also help feed the world, if the right steps are taken.

The United States Government has since pledged to continue funding the Green Climate Fund which is supporting farmers in 16 districts of Zambia, through climate resilient agriculture.

Dr Yellen made her remarks at the Strengthening Climate Resilience of Agricultural Livelihoods in Agro-Ecological Regions in Zambia (SCRALA) project site in Chongwe.

And Acting Agriculture Minister Gary Nkombo said the SCRALA Project has transformed lives of many Zambian farmers.
