Pupils at Mukumbe primary School in Chieftainess Mumbi Mukulu’s chiefdom have abandoned classes and followed their parents in fishing camps.
Kasama District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) Andrew Chipili says most learners did not show up for the third term because majority followed their parents in fishing camps.
Mr. Chipili told Diamond tv news that people in this area survive on seasonal activities such as fishing, caterpillar collections and seasonal farming.
He said the situation forced teachers to go and fetch for kids in the fishing camps to return back to school.
