As if not enough, different tail numbers on the Global Express (Bombardier) have sparked a debate among some social media users.
During Tuesday’s Press Briefing Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) Director General, Nason Banda’s statement read the foreign private jet’s tail number as T7-WW, but a close inspection during a media visit revealed T7-WSS.
A tail number is the registration code of an aircraft frequently painted on the tail, it is used to identify a specific plane.
The matter has divided opinion, some assume it is a mere typographical error, while others feel the difference shows alleged failure to write details as they are especially that there was even an omission of a third letter.
Further, views from the debate raging on some platforms question why security wings in their thousands could make such a mistake in a sensitive matter linked to an alleged gold scam.
Some have gone further to question if law enforcement wings do often take down correct details in cases they investigate and prosecute.
Earlier on Thursday, the Commission led the media to an inspection of the seized foreign plane alongside a King Air B190 owned by a local airline charter allegedly linked to an ongoing gold scam that so far has 14 people detained.
