Republican President Hakainde Hichilema has reacted sharply at people accusing him of persecuting the opposition in his corruption fight, stating that his government is fighting corruption both past and present.
And the president says ongoing financial audits are establishing glaring irregularities, warning that those who will be found wanting will face the wrath of the law.
The President said this during his address of the National Assembly on the Progress made in the Application of National Values and Principles.
But Leader of the opposition, Brian Mundubile, has argued that the President is politically persecuting the opposition.
Mr. Mundubile has also expressed concern on the transfers of senior officials at the Ministry of Finance, which he says will affect the Auditor General’s Report for the financial year ending 2022.
