PRESIDENTIAL ESCORT RIDER DIES IN ROAD ACCIDENT

A tragic accident has claimed the life of Sergeant Mike Mumba, a presidential escort rider, in Lusaka.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred at the junction of Mosi-o-Tunya and Nyatwa Roads as the presidential motorcade was en route to State House.

According to police reports, a Toyota Allex (registration number ACT 6444), driven by Charles Tembo, collided with Sergeant Mumba’s motorcycle, which had the right of way.

Police Public Relations Officer Rae Hamoonga confirmed that Sergeant Mumba sustained severe head injuries and died while receiving treatment at Maina Soko Medical Centre.

Eyewitness Barbra Mwamba has described the harrowing scene, stating that the impact of the collision flung the officer into the air before he landed in a nearby drainage.

Meanwhile, President Hakainde Hichilema has extended his heartfelt condolences to Mr. Mumba’s family whom he has described as a dedicated officer.
