President Hakainde Hichilema has directed the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) to conduct a survey of the flood situation in Lusaka so that Government knows which areas are habitable for relocation of victims.
President Hichilema says alternative land has to be found as soon as possible to give people some relief.
Speaking when he toured flooded areas in Lusaka, President Hichilema says it is the duty of government to come in and help citizens without segregation.
And the president says as much as this situation is saddening, there is need for people to respect the laws of the land and ensure they settle where it is habitable.
He says when people are removed from flood prone areas they should never go back.
