President Hakainde Hichilema has implored the Zambezi River Authority (ZRA) to ensure proper management of the water resource.
President Hichilema says the authority has failed to manage the water resource which has resulted in low electricity generation on the Zambian side.
ZRA is a corporate body responsible for the environmental management of the Zambezi River which flows between Zambia and Zimbabwe.
He adds that government is engaging authorities from Zimbabwe to ensure proper management of ZRA and equal share of the water resources.
And Energy Regulation Board Chairperson Reynords Bowa has revealed that the impasse between Zesco and Maamba Collieries Limited has been resolved with the former agreeing to pay the 457 million dollars it owes Maamba in two installments.
The first installment is expected to be paid by end of April and the last by end of August 2023.
He adds that the two parties have since agreed on a reduced tariff of 25%.
