President Hakainde Hichilema has wished retiring Chipolopolo Captain Enock Mwepu well in his next chapter of life.

Mwepu has been forced to end his football-playing career following the diagnosis of a hereditary heart condition.

The 24-year old’s condition can worsen over time and put him under extreme risk of suffering a potential fatal cardiac event if he were to continue playing competitive football.

In a Facebook post on his page, President Hichilema believes the 2017 under 20 AFCON winning midfielder can still assist in inspiring new players to follow in his footsteps.

And Mwepu’s management team has described the Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder as one of the best role models.

Kafue Celtics proprietor Lee Kawanu who has been instrumental in the player’s football life says the country is lucky to still have him, as others that had the condition could not live to see another day.

Kawanu has urged the football fraternity to support the 24-year-old during this difficult period as he digests the ordeal.

FAZ President Andrew Kamanga says the Association is deeply saddened by the news that Mwepu will no longer be able to play football on the advice of medics.
