The Zambia Police Service has expressed grave concern over a Facebook post circulating on a page purporting to represent the Patriotic Front (PF), titled “PF to begin countrywide demonstrations until State gives back PF. Demo starting at Robert Chabinga’s house.”
Inspector General of Police Graphel Musamba says the page has been carrying messages that border on incitement to lawlessness and public disorder. He warns that anyone involved in organising or promoting unlawful demonstrations will be arrested and prosecuted in line with the laws of Zambia.
Mr. Musamba has directed Commanding Officers countrywide to remain on high alert and take firm but lawful action against any individuals or groups that attempt to cause unrest.
He has further urged the public to remain calm, avoid spreading inflammatory posts online, and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
