The Zambia Police Service has launched investigations into the murder of a police officer whose body was discovered in Kasempa District in the early hours of Wednesday.
North-Western Province Police Commissioner Brighton Siwale has confirmed that Kasempa Police Station recorded a case of murder believed to have occurred between 21:00 hours on January 6, 2026, and 05:00 hours on January 7, 2026.
According to Mr. Siwale , Police investigations have revealed that the deceased, Mr. Friday Mulauzi, aged 38, of New-Mayard area in Kasempa District and originally from Sinazongwe Village under Chief Sinazongwe in Sinazongwe District, was a Criminal Investigations Officer attached to Kasempa Police Station.
Prior to his death, he was reportedly drinking with colleagues at named Night Club in Kasempa Boma on the night of January 6.
Mr. Siwale says following police reports from the neighbours Officers rushed to the scene and found the body of Mr. Mulauzi lying on his back in a pool of blood, about one metre from the door to his house.
Keys to the house were found on the ground nearby. And physical inspection revealed a deep cut on the left upper side of the chest, with intestines protruding, suggesting that a sharp object may have been used in the attack.
Police have further noted that the deceased’s vehicle was parked beside the house, and the car keys were found in the right pocket of his coat.
The body was since transported to Mukinge Mission Hospital Mortuary, where it is being kept pending a postmortem examination.
A docket of murder has been opened, and no arrests have been made so far. Police say investigations into the matter are ongoing.
Commissioner Siwale has since appealed to members of the public with information that may assist investigations to come forward and cooperate with the police.
