Police in Mafinga are investigating a murder case involving an alleged mentally ill person who stoned a 14-year old girl to death.
Deputy Police Commissioner Muunkondya Buumba says on 27 September 2022 at around 19:30 hours the victim in the company of her friend was stoned by an alleged mad man on her way from Muyombe market where she had been sent by her mother to buy salt.
Ms. Buumba says after the unfortunate incident, the victim complained of severe headache and started vomiting and was rushed to Muyombe hospital where she died on 28th September 2022 around 15 hrs.
Police have since arrested the suspect identified as Wisdom Mfune aged 22 awaiting court appearance while the body of the deceased has been moved to Isoka district hospital awaiting postmortem.
