The Zambia Police Service has dismissed reports circulating in the public domain alleging that a man in Chingola was causing men’s private parts to disappear through physical contact.
According to Police Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi, the matter was reported to Chingola Central Police Station on March 14, 2026, around 16:40 hours by a 45-year-old male resident of the district.
Mr. Chilabi explained that the complainant, with the help of members of the public, apprehended a 61-year-old male suspect, also a resident of Chingola, and brought him to the police station.
He said the suspect was accused of tapping men on the shoulder within the Central Business District around 15:30 hours, allegedly causing their private parts to disappear.
Mr. Chilabi said the complainant reported that after being tapped by the suspect, he felt a strange sensation and believed his private parts had disappeared.
Four other men later made similar claims.
However, he said police interviewed the suspect, who denied the allegations, and a search conducted on him did not uncover any suspicious items.
Mr. Chilabi added that with the consent of the five complainants and while respecting their privacy, police conducted voluntary checks which confirmed that none of the individuals had suffered any physical harm.
He said the suspect was later released after a full investigation found no evidence to support the allegations.
Mr. Chilabi has since urged members of the public to report such incidents through established legal channels and warned against taking the law into their own hands, stating that mob justice is unlawful.
