Two residents of Chipata are receiving treatment at Chipata Central Hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds in a shooting incident that occurred in Kapata Township.
The victims, identified as Ellamsdeal Tembo and a 15-year-old girl, were reportedly shot by Esau Mbazima, 48, following a heated altercation over reckless driving.
Police have since arrested the suspect and recovered the firearm believed to have been used in the incident.
The suspect’s vehicle has also been impounded as investigations continue.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the current condition of the victims, but hospital sources confirm both are undergoing medical care.
