PHOTO FOCUS: UPND SUPPORTERS GATHER AT KITWE COURT AS MUKUKA CHALLENGES PARLIAMENTARY NKANA RESULTS

.

UPND supporters have gathered at the Kitwe High Court to show support for the losing UPND Nkana Constituency Parliamentary Candidate, Francis Mukuka.

Mukuka has petitioned the election of Alexander Chiteme as Nkana Member of Parliament in the High Court.

Mukuka alleges that the election was marred by electoral fraud, violence, bribery, intimidation and other irregularities.

He further alleges that Mr Chiteme deployed people to all 86 polling stations to intimidate and harass his observers and polling agents.

In his petition, Mukuka also claims that ballot papers were transported irregularly, which he argues affected the outcome of the election.

.

He is asking the High Court to nullify the Nkana Constituency election results and order the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to conduct fresh nominations within 90 days of the judgment.

The ECZ has been cited as the second respondent in the matter.

The court hearing is expected to take place today.
