The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) prosecutors have called on stand two witnesses from MTN and AIRTEL to show how a Patriotic Front cadre Francis Muchemwa drew imprest from ZESCO on the pretext that he was traveling out of Lusaka when in fact not.
Officers from Airtel and MTN Zambia have provided call records which showed that the accused applied for imprest under false intentions.
ACC prosecutor Daniel Ngwira asked the witness to state where Mr. Muchemwa was when he applied for imprest to travel to among other Provinces, Northwestern, Luapula, Southern and Eastern, the witness told the court that the call records show that Mr. Muchemwa was in Lusaka.
In this matter, Mr. Muchemwa has been accused of obtaining pecuniary advantage by false pretenses and dishonestly obtained K141, 000 in form of subsistence allowances from ZESCO on the pretext that he had undertaken official duties when in fact not.
Trial continues on June 16, 2023 before Chief Resident Magistrate Davies Chibwili.
