The Ministry of Education has released the 2025 Junior Secondary External (Grade 9 External) and General Certificate of Education (GCE) examination results, showing that a majority of candidates managed to pass at least one subject.
Out of 130,615 candidates who sat for the Grade 9 External exams, 78.29 percent passed, while 85.96 percent of the 136,455 GCE candidates also recorded a pass in at least one subject.
However, the Grade 9 results saw 21.7 percent of candidates failing all subjects, while the GCE recorded 14.04 percent total failures.
Minister of Education Douglas Syakalima says both the Junior Secondary External (grade 9 External) and the General Certificate of Education (GCE) examinations were conducted without any leakage of question papers.
He has expressed gratitude to all stakeholders who played a vital role in ensuring the security of the question papers.
The 2025 Junior Secondary External Examination is the last to be conducted and will not be there from 2026 going forward.
