The Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security has called on seven thousand five hundred citizens who successfully applied for passports to come forward and collect them as they are ready.
Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security Permanent Secretary, Dickson Matembo, says to clear the backlog, five thousand passports were printed in the last week while two thousand five hundred were printed in the last two weeks.
Mr. Matembo has sternly warned officers to desist from corrupt practices and cautioned members of the public against engaging unscrupulous individuals posing as agents when applying for passports.
He spoke to Diamond News during his visit at the National Registration Passport and Citizenship building on Cairo Road following complaints from members of the public on alleged corruption in the acquisition of passports.
