The University Teaching Hospital UTH in Lusaka has revealed that Zambia has made significant strides in HIV prevention following the launch of injectable PrEP (CAB-LA), a long-acting HIV prevention drug after the groundbreaking initiative in February this year.

UTH Infectious Disease and Internal Medicine Specialist Professor Lloyd Mulenga has disclosed that out of the targeted 6000 people, over 1,400 are already accessing the auto prevention injectable and that the hospital still has enough injectable in stock.

And Professor Mulenga, has revealed that the hospital has in the last 7 years recorded zero HIV infections among new born babies following the introduction of the mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) HIV prevention program at the University Teaching Hospital.
