Princess Cholwe Nkomeshya of the Soli speaking people in Chongwe district has called for an amicable dialogue solution to the land disputes in Mikango, between Muzembela villagers and military personnel.
Princess Nkomeshya says the Chiefdom’s presence where military surveyors were found demarcating land in Muzembela village was not meant to fight the army or the state, but an attempt to protect their heritage.
She has however charged that the land in question, historically, belongs to villagers and not the state as is being claimed by the army.
In a statement, Police Assistant Public Relations Officer, Godfrey Chilabi, has disclosed that one person has been apprehended in relation to the alleged assault of land surveyors in Mikango area.

It’s very unfortunate that Zambia army belongs to Zambia and the land in question belongs to Zambia, now where is the problem,if the chief give a piece of land to Zambia army what’s the problem, let the chief sit down with her people and see what they can do. Development belows to her people and are the one to benefit the outcome.
Fellow Zambians, I feel pity to see how our army officers were treated in this video. I wouldn’t side with any party because I have no history. But there’s a better way of resolving issues rather than confronting our military. I think the princess must provide proper guidance to her subjects rather than encouraging them to take the law in their own hands.
I salute the officers for their restraint. I feel the govt must come in so that this issue is concluded amicably.
