NKANDU CALLS FOR URGENT REFORMS AFTER CHIPOLOPOLO’S AFCON EXIT

.

The government has expressed dissatisfaction with Zambia’s showing at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Youth, Sport and Arts Minister Elvis Nkandu says the national team failed to display the character and patriotism expected of players wearing the national jersey.

He has described Zambia’s failure to win a match and collecting only two points from nine as unacceptable for former African champions.

The Minister has urged the Football Association of Zambia, technical bench, and players to reflect on whether they delivered the results the country deserved.

Nkandu has reminded stakeholders to implement recommendations from the National Football Indaba held on December 1-2, saying the poor performance proves reforms can no longer be delayed.

While praising progress in age-group national teams, he expressed concern the senior men’s team has remained average and, in some cases, is performing poorly.
