Street vendors in Ndola on the Copperbelt have continued being defiant to Ndola City Council’s directive for them to leave the streets.

The vendors trading in the Central Business District are opposing the directive saying that there are no trading spaces in markets.

Meanwhile, contrary to reports that council and state police have moved in for a cleanup exercise, Diamond News found traders on the streets going about their business.

Ndola City Council had given the vendors up to Friday 28 July 2023 to leave the streets, saying that there are over 2, 500 trading spaces in markets around the district able to accommodate the vendors.
