Information reaching Diamond TV is that Nakonde-Tunduma border is closed following reports of an alleged move by Tanzanian authorities to impound Zambian-bound trucks in what seems to be retaliation over maize-laden Tanzanian trucks held in Zambia.
The unknown number of Tanzanian trucks are reported to be held for over a month following restrictions imposed on maize exports.
A source says a meeting from both countries is underway to end the disruption at the famous border.
The latest incident in the same area follows Tuesday’s protest by Zambian truckers, that demand better conditions of service.
