The National Council of Student Unions (NACOSU) has called on the Zambian government to turn the free education policy into law.
Speaking during a press briefing, NACOSU Chairperson Michelo Chizombe said making free education a legal right would guarantee access to education for all Zambians, regardless of their social status.
He noted that the surge in school enrolments demonstrates strong demand for education, which was previously hindered by school fees.
Meanwhile, other student representatives from various universities, including the Copperbelt University and Levy Mwanawasa Medical University, have praised parliamentarians who voted in favour of the Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 7 of 2025.
They said the participation of youths in Parliament is now guaranteed
