MWEETWA FIRES BACK AT Lubinda ON ELECTION CLAIMS

.

Government has dismissed with contempt and condemnation claims by acting Patriotic Front (PF) faction president Given Lubinda that holding a fair election under the current administration is far-fetched, describing the remarks as contradictory and a sign of conceding defeat.

Minister of Information and Media and Chief Government Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa says it is perplexing that Mr Lubinda had earlier addressed the nation and declared the Chawama election free and fair, only to change his position days later.

Mr Mweetwa urged the PF and other opposition players to exercise patience and engage the electorate by clearly explaining their vision for the country, instead of issuing what he termed as shifting statements.

He says the UPND government has delivered on key promises, including growing the economy, restoring the rule of law and ensuring that there are no sacred cows, as repeatedly emphasized by President Hakainde Hichilema.

He has further called on politicians, political commentators and the media to use the outcome of the Kasama election to unite the country rather than view electoral results through tribal lenses.

Mr Mweetwa adds that there was nothing like teaching regions how to vote, noting that the UPND’s success was anchored on a strong campaign team, a clear message and visible development on the ground across all parts of the country.

The Chief Government Spokesperson warns against the spread of divisive and hurtful narratives, stating that every region has now become competitive for the UPND, and it is the collective responsibility of citizens to safeguard national unity, especially in an election year.
