MWANAWASA HOSPITAL MAINTAINS TIGHT SECURITY OVER UNCLAIMED CHILD

Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital is maintaining strict security measures over a four-year-old boy who miraculously survived a tragic road traffic accident. The hospital has reported that multiple individuals have come forward claiming to be the child’s relatives, but none have been able to provide valid proof of relationship.

Hospital Public Relations Officer, Chizongo Siachiwena, has urged the public to follow the proper verification process before attempting to claim guardianship of the child. She confirmed that several people have approached the hospital asserting that they are related to the boy, but access has been denied to all of them until police clearance is granted.

The young boy was traveling from Chipata to Lusaka in a privately owned vehicle alongside his grandfather when the accident occurred. Unfortunately, the grandfather lost his life in the crash, leaving the boy without an immediate guardian.

Authorities have since stepped in to ensure the child’s safety and proper legal processes are followed. The hospital is working closely with law enforcement and child welfare authorities to establish the child’s identity and locate genuine family members. In the meantime, the boy remains under medical and protective care at the hospital.

Ms. Siachiwena reassured the public that the hospital is prioritizing the child’s well-being and will only release him to verified guardians. She encouraged any legitimate relatives to provide the necessary documentation and follow due process to avoid unnecessary delays.

As investigations continue, the public is urged to avoid speculation and allow the authorities to carry out their work to ensure the best possible outcome for the child.
