The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has announced 26th June 2025 as the date for a by-election in Lumezi Constituency, following the conviction of Independent Member of Parliament Munir Zulu.
Mr. Zulu’s seat was declared vacant in line with constitutional provisions, which disqualify a sitting MP upon conviction by a court of law.
The ECZ confirmed the vacancy and scheduled the by-election in accordance with electoral regulations.
On the same day, ward by-elections will also take place in Fibalala Ward of Milenge District—following the death of Councillor Misheck Chisala—and in Tuuwa Ward of Sikongo District, after the resignation of Councillor Likezo Kaunga.
