Angry residents of Mumbwa District in Central Province have destroyed more properties following Wednesday’s riots.

The unrest was triggered by suspected rituals killings after word went round that a resident named Mwiya Kashweka was killed and his body parts were allegedly removed.

Speculation led to an assumption by the mob, that the perpetrators were allegedly sent by local businessman Ernest Sikaonga popularly known as Yakaipa and his friend David Mwakiyoma a Tanzanian, hence the duo was hacked and set ablaze by the irate mob.

A Diamond Media Reporter who witnessed the dramatic scenes on the second day, met Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security, Jack Mwiimbu, in the district, who appealed to residents of Mumbwa to keep calm.
