MUCHIMA DENIES BEING CHASED, DECLARES HIMSELF KINGMAKER

By Darius Choonya

Ikelenge Member of Parliament Elijah Muchima has dismissed reports that he was chased away by Chief Nyakaseya over unfulfilled promises, declaring himself a kingmaker in his constituency.

Speaking to journalists at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) after receiving a donation of intensive care unit (ICU) beds from the Czech Republic, Mr. Muchima—who also serves as Minister of Health—denied the allegations, insisting that no one had expelled him.

Reports indicate that Mr. Muchima recently met Chief Nyakaseya at the chief’s palace to discuss the handover of Kalene Mission Hospital and College.

According to the minister, the Fisher family, who hold the title for the institution, have set guidelines for the transition, requiring that the overseeing trust remain free from political affiliations.

However, the chief allegedly wants the title transferred to him, accusing Mr. Muchima of holding onto it.

This disagreement has reportedly led to confusion and tensions between the two parties.
