Altitude Apartments, a property previously owned by jailed Patriotic Front (PF) supporter Francis Muchemwa, has been officially transferred to the Hostels Board of Management, a government department under the Ministry of Tourism.

The decision to seize the property was made following a court ruling that declared it tainted and forfeited to the state. The property, valued at over K11 million, is among several other assets belonging to Muchemwa that have been confiscated.

Speaking during a visit to the property, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Gilbert Phiri, emphasized that the government intends to continue operating Altitude Apartments as a business. The revenue generated from the property will be directed to the Treasury, contributing to the country’s economic development.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Acting Director General, Monica Mwansa, also expressed the state’s commitment to ensuring that all forfeited properties are properly managed and utilized. The ACC will play a crucial role in overseeing the operations of Altitude Apartments and ensuring that its assets are protected.

The transfer of Altitude Apartments to the Hostels Board of Management marks a significant step in the government’s efforts to recover assets obtained through corruption and to utilize them for the benefit of the Zambian people. The move is expected to have a positive impact on the tourism sector and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
