An eight-year-old male juvenile has suffered burns on his body inflicted on him by his mother after allegedly stealing a K100, which his mother hid in the house.
The incident that attracted community empathy happened on Tuesday 14th March 2023 at around 10 hours at Katozi Village in Nakonde, Muchinga Province.
On the material day, 28 year old Esnart Namukonda left home at 05 hours to buy vegetables for resale, leaving her two children at home.
When she returned at around 10hrs, she discovered that a K100 note was missing.
Suspicious of her son Golden Nkonde, a grade 1 pupil at Katozi Primary School, she followed him to school where he was found buying fritters and ice blocks and dragged him home where she poured hot water on him.
The boy who was whisked away by concerned community members and rushed to hospital, sustained burns on his left side of his body and left hand.
Muchinga Police Commanding Officer Kaunda Mubanga Confirmed the incident to Diamond News saying the suspect is in police custody.
