Police on the Copperbelt have arrested about 1,200 people for various criminal offences recorded during the 2025 festive season.
Copperbelt Province Police Commanding Officer Mwala Yuyi says the arrests were made between 24th December 2025 and 2nd January 2026 following intensified police operations across the province.
Mr. Yuyi was speaking at Kitwe Central Police Station during the display of recovered items, which include television sets, mattresses, solar panels, gas stoves, mobile phones, gaming machines commonly known as bonanza, and three vehicles.
He assured residents that police will continue working tirelessly to restore law and order, warning criminals to desist or face the full force of the law.
Mr. Yuyi attributed the recoveries to improved intelligence gathering and disclosed that night patrols have been intensified to curb rising crime levels.
He has since urged members of the public who may have lost property to visit Kitwe Central Police Station to identify and collect their goods, while encouraging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the police.
