Health Minister Elijah Muchima has confirmed that Permanent Secretary for Administration, Professor Christopher Simoonga, is under investigation for allegedly awarding a $6.8 million contract to a company linked to him.
The contract involves the implementation of an HIV/AIDS prevention program.
In response to a query from Nkana Member of Parliament, Binwell Mpundu, Mr. Muchima assured Parliament that the matter is being thoroughly reviewed.
He pledged to provide clarity on the transaction soon, ensuring the public understands the circumstances surrounding the contract’s award.
It is alleged that Professor Simoonga awarded the contract to Chreso University, where he serves as Vice Chancellor, raising concerns about a potential conflict of interest.
