MOB KILLS WOMAN IN KALUMBILA OVER ALLEGATIONS OF DISAPPEARING PRIVATE PARTS

.

A 46-year-old woman of Chingola, identified as Eneless Hellen Kamutumbe, has been killed in a suspected case of mob justice in the Kisasa area of Kalumbila District.

The incident, which occurred on Friday, March 20, 2026, between 11:00 hours and 13:00 hours, was confirmed by Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Chipo Kaitisha.

The matter was later reported to police around 14:00 hours by the deceased’s cousin, Mwalede Siamuchimba of Solwezi.

Investigations indicate that the deceased had travelled to Kisasa for business when a 25-year-old man, Prince Ntambo, allegedly accused her of causing the disappearance of his private parts after physical contact at a local market.

The accusation sparked panic among members of the public, leading to a violent mob attack in which the victim was assaulted using sticks, stones, planks, and other objects, resulting in multiple injuries.

Efforts to rescue the victim proved unsuccessful as the situation escalated, with police officers who responded to the scene reportedly attacked by a hostile crowd that also obstructed rescue operations.

The victim was later abandoned along the Mwinilunga–Solwezi Road by the mob and was rushed to Wumi Mini Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police have since apprehended eight suspects, including Prince Ntambo, who are currently assisting with investigations.

Meanwhile, three police officers sustained injuries during the unrest, while a police vehicle had its front windscreen damaged after being stoned by members of the public.

The Zambia Police Service has strongly condemned the incident, urging members of the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and instead report suspected criminal activities to the police.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
