The Public Accounts Committee has taken to task Ministry of Tourism Permanent Secretary, Evans Muhanga on how the ministry lost 14 title deeds that were submitted as collateral for loans, amounting to over 2 million Kwacha.

Furthermore, the parliamentarians have also questioned why 33 beneficiaries of loans amounting to over 4 million Kwacha have not made efforts to clear the loans to the ministry.

The findings were earlier exposed by the Auditor General’s report for the financial year ended 31st December, 2021.

Mr. Muhanga has told the parliamentary committee that officers could have connived to steal the titles as they were stored in a safe box in the Permanent Secretary’s office.
