The latest released Auditor General Report on the government payroll audit between 2017 and 2O21 has revealed that the Ministry of energy paid salaries in amounts totaling K 1.3 Million to six officers ghost workers.

This is contrary to the treasury and financial management circular No 6 of 2019 which provides that controlling officers are in charge of managing the payroll under their respective heads of expenditure and ensuring that all employees under their charge are on the payroll stations they are working from.

The report shows that as of 31 July 2022, the ministry had failed to account for the employees who received the said money.
