The Ministry of Energy has acknowledged reports of fuel shortages experienced across the country in recent days but has assured the public that the situation is under control.
In a statement issued by Minister of Energy Makoozo Chikote, the Ministry has explained that the temporary supply disruptions were purely logistical and not due to depleted fuel reserves.
As of Tuesday, 11th November 2025, Zambia had 57,385,360 litres of diesel and 40,082,000 litres of petrol in stock. The Ministry says measures have been put in place to address both the short and long-term challenges affecting fuel supply.
“The Ministry expects the situation to stabilise soon as normal fuel supply resumes across the country,” read part of the statement.
Government has since apologised to the public for the inconvenience caused and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a stable and reliable supply of petroleum products throughout Zambia.
