Thousands of Mopani’s contracting companies whose contracts were terminated last month are appealing to government for financial aid as they await the resumption of full operations at the mine.

One of the miners, Bernard Chilwa says the former miners are facing a lot of challenges but cannot blame individual companies because they understand what is currently happening at Mopani.

He says the current financial situation that the mine is facing has sent many families into financial difficulties.

Meanwhile, Kantanshi constituency Member of Parliament Anthony Mumba who has been advocating for the miners has urged government to look for an immediate solution to issues surrounding Mopani’s contractors and suppliers.
