Mazabuka District Health Department has learnt that some religious groupings in Mazabuka have refused to have their children under the age of five go for under-5 immunizations.
Mazabuka District Health Director Dr. Phallon Mwaba says the said religious groupings do not believe in conventional medicines.
Speaking when he addressed the media in Mazabuka, Dr. Mwaba says the Ministry of Health in the district is doing everything possible to ensure every child is vaccinated against polio and other illnesses.
He says the health authorities have since instituted dialogue programs with the church leaders who have challenges in accepting conventional medicines.
Meanwhile, the district health director has confirmed that so far about 85% of children under the age of five have been vaccinated against polio and other illnesses.
