A 20-year-old man of Mazabuka District in Southern Province identified as Smart Chatila has allegedly raped and murdered his best friend’s seven months pregnant wife Wendy Kandela of Zambia Compound.
According to details obtained by Diamond News from the deceased’s relative Musupila Chungu, the incident happened last night between 23:00hrs and 01:00hrs.
Chungu states that the suspect together with the deceased wife’s husband identified as Chrispine Chaanga were on a drinking spree when the suspect excused himself and left for his friend’s house.
He is alleged to have raped the friend’s wife before stabbing her to death for unknown reasons.
He adds that later the suspect went to his own house where he stabbed his six months pregnant wife identified as Bertha Meenda who is currently nursing serious injuries in Mazabuka General Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit.
