MAN ALLEGEDLY MURDERS WIFE IN SINDA DISTRICT
A tragic incident has shaken the community of Sinda District in Eastern Province, as a 27-year-old woman, Lexina Sakala, was brutally murdered, allegedly by her husband, following a domestic dispute. The horrifying event occurred in Chamabvu Township on January 28, 2025, leaving residents in shock and raising serious concerns about gender-based violence.
According to Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba, Lexina Sakala was discovered dead in her home with a catapult, wire, and a mosquito net tied around her neck. Preliminary investigations indicate that she sustained bruises around her neck, suggesting that she was strangled.
Authorities have since arrested the prime suspect, her husband, Zakaria Banda, aged 34, who is now in police custody. Law enforcement officials are continuing their investigations into the gruesome act to establish further details surrounding the murder.
The tragic killing has sparked discussions about the urgent need to address domestic violence and strengthen measures to protect vulnerable individuals in abusive relationships. The community is calling for justice, while police urge anyone with relevant information to come forward as investigations continue.
