A 26 year old man of Chinsali says despite breaking his ex girlfriend’s virginity, he doubts being the father of the child.
The Chinsali Local court has heard how Steven Kafula wants to have a DNA test to determine the paternity of a child, amid pressure from his ex-girlfriend’s family that he pays for damages and child maintenance.
Mr. Kafula was dragged to court by his ex-girlfriend’s father, Mwape Prosper, demanding K10, 000 (Ten thousand Kwacha) compensation for breaking his daughter’s virginity.
But Kafula claims he became suspicious after returning from conducting National census last year, only to find that his girlfriend was staying alone in a rented house, with an unknown person taking care of rentals.
Kafula has since agreed to pay the K10,000 fine but says he will not accept the child until a test is conducted.
