Five people have died, while eight are battling for their lives at St. Francis Mission Hospital in Mambwe District, after they were involved in a road accident along Katete-Msoro Road.
According to Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer, Limpo Liywalii, the incident occurred around 14:00 hours on Tuesday when a Daf Leyland Truck, registration number ALK 7290, with 13 people on board overturned due to excessive speed.
Mr. Liywalii, says three passengers died on the spot, among the deceased is the driver, due to the impact the truck was extensively damaged.
