MAAMBA ENERGY EXPANDS POWER GENERATION WITH NEW THERMAL AND SOLAR ENERGY-EFFICIENT

Maamba Energy CEO Lt. Col. Cyrus C. Minwalla has disclosed that the company is constructing Phase Two of its thermal power plant, which will add 300 megawatts to the existing 300 megawatts from Phase One, bringing the total contribution to the national grid to 600 megawatts.

Speaking during a tour to inspect the progress of the project by ERB Director of Licensing Naomi Fulaza this morning, the CEO also revealed that Maamba Energy is currently installing an additional 100-megawatt solar power plant, expected to be completed by July this year.

On employment, Lt. Col. Minwalla stated that more than 500 local Zambians have already been employed during Phase One. The solar project has so far employed 80 people, with the number expected to rise to 300, while up to 1,000 Zambians are anticipated to be employed during the construction phase of Phase Two.

Meanwhile, ERB Director of Licensing Naomi Fulaza said the Energy Regulation Board conducted the tour to assess the progress of the projects and to identify any challenges encountered so far.
