Former Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo has been transferred to Luanshya for sentencing following three days in custody at Chilenje Police Station in Lusaka. His arrest took place on Friday, with the Zambia Police executing a bench warrant issued by the Luanshya Magistrate Court. This legal action stems from a case in which Mr. Lusambo faces charges related to the alleged assault of two National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters.
Mr. Lusambo, known for his prominent role in the Patriotic Front (PF), addressed the media briefly as he was escorted by police officers. Showing no sign of distress, he maintained a spirited demeanor and expressed optimism about his political party’s future. He conveyed his confidence that the PF, despite recent challenges, remains robust and will reclaim power in the 2026 general elections.
As he spoke, Mr. Lusambo underscored his belief in the resilience of the PF, encouraging supporters not to lose hope. This statement was a clear attempt to rally the PF’s base, signaling that he and other members of the party are preparing for a political comeback
