Lusaka City Council has demolished over 70 makeshift stalls around Chilenje Township and relocated the vendors to Chilenje Market.
Chilenje Ward Development Committee Chairperson Malambo Hamphande has confirmed the development to diamond news, adding that the affected vendors have since been allocated trading spaces at Chilenje Market shelter.
Mr. Malambo says this is in line with the government’s agenda to keep Zambia clean which allows for the selling and buying merchandise from designated places.
Meanwhile, the affected vendors have expressed sadness with the development alleging that there is no business when trading from market shelters.
