Chilenje market is operating under deplorable conditions as the market has been operating without running water for over two months now.

The market has been relying on Lusaka City Council for supply of a water bowser that only lasts 3 to 4 days and services over 500 businesses.

This has resulted in the shutdown of toilets for some days and hampered daily operations of businesses that highly rely on water such as restaurants.
