Police in Lusaka have detained 24-year-old Lemmy Mulilo of Chazanga Compound in connection with the death of a two-year-old girl who died while receiving treatment at UTH.
A shop attendant who witnessed the incident has told Diamond News that the suspect, entered a shop and attacked children who were inside.
He alleged that the Grace Mpofu now deceased, was picked up, swung around, dropped to the ground and bitten on the cheek.
The child was rushed to Chipata Level One Hospital before being referred to the University Teaching Hospital for specialised treatment.
Family members say medical examinations revealed skull fractures.
Grace died while receiving treatment at UTH in the early hours of Sunday, June 7, 2026.
Zambia Police say the suspect, identified as Lemmy Mulilo, has been charged with murder and remains in custody.
