60 year old ,Gratias Matunda Paschal of Hellen Kaunda has been formally arrested and charged with manslaughter in connection with a fatal bee attack that occurred on February 2, 2026, in Hellen Kaunda area.
Police public relations officer Godfrey Chilabi says this follows the death of 77 year old Judith Malango, who died after sustaining multiple bee stings.
Mr . Chilabi says the suspect reported himself to police on February 17, 2026, around 09:30 hours, after being summoned through his legal representatives.
Mr. Gratias Matunda Paschal was allegedly unlawfully and without a permit keeping bees on Plot Number 217 in Hellen Kaunda, a residential area.
The suspect is charged with one count of Manslaughter contrary to Section 199 of the Penal Code, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia, read together with Sections 56 and 80 of the Animal Health Act No. 27 of 2010.
He also faces three counts of Unlawful Acts Causing Harm contrary to Section 238 of the Penal Code .
