Police in Lusaka have questioned Catherine Banda, the niece to former First Lady Esther Lungu, in connection with Wednesday’s police raid at the residence of former president Edgar Lungu.
In this case, police are investigating alleged theft of three motor vehicles and a certificate of title, following a complaint by a named Elizabeth Chanje Phiri and her daughter Furhana Patel.
Dozens of heavily armed police raided the home of former president Edgar Lungu and demanded to search the premises for vehicles allegedly stolen by Mrs. Lungu.
Police retrieved a Toyota Runx from the Lungus and a search for the other two vehicles has continued.
Meanwhile, President Hakainde Hichilema says he has no hand in the search at the residence of his predecessor.
