LUNDAZI CHILD DISCHARGED AFTER 15 DAYS OF NURSING HYENA WOUNDS

A four-year-old boy who survived a horrific hyena attack in Lundazi District has been discharged from Chipata Central Hospital after 15 days of nursing hyena inflicted head injuries that exposed his brain.

This marks a triumphant end to his medical journey, since his admission on January 19, 2026, after the animal attacked him as he was returning from a local traditional dance at Gwilani village.

The successful treatment and recovery have excited parents of the child who have described it as a medical miracle.

The child’s parents, Justina Kamanga and Kestoni Mugala are overjoyed and excited by his recovery, expressing profound gratitude for the dedicated work of the medical experts at Chipata Central Hospital.

They credit the doctors and nurses at both Lumezi Mission and Chipata Central Hospitals for their relentless efforts in saving their son’s life and nursing him back to health.
